High Press

Pressing the opposition deep in their own half to force turnovers near their goal.

A high press squeezes play into the opposition's defensive third by pushing the entire team forward and committing forwards + midfielders to harassing the ball carrier. Successful high pressing creates either a turnover in a high-value zone or forces a long ball that the back line can win cleanly.

The trade-off is space conceded in behind. A high press demands a back line confident in its recovery speed and a goalkeeper comfortable sweeping aggressively. When timing slips, a single bypassed line can produce a clean transition against the press.
